Being engaged in financial activities, American Advantage Solutions qualifies as a "financial institution" under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ("GLBA"). Although the CCPA doesn't provide exemptions for financial institutions, Section 1798.145(e) of the CCPA exempts personal information collected by a financial institution in accordance with the GLBA.
Personal information excludes data that is publicly available from government records, as well as de-identified or aggregated consumer information. Additionally, it excludes information collected under the GLBA or any other data excluded from the CCPA's scope.
